Sydney Wagner, LLMSW

Limited Licensed Social Worker

Meet Sydney.

Life doesn't always unfold the way we expected.

Whether you're grieving the loss of someone important, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating a major life transition, or simply wondering why life feels harder than it should, therapy can provide a place to slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and begin moving forward with greater confidence.

Sydney Wagner, LLMSW, believes that healing begins with feeling genuinely heard. She is passionate about creating a warm, welcoming environment where clients can be themselves without fear of judgment.

Together, you'll work to better understand your experiences, build practical tools for managing life's challenges, and discover strengths you may not yet recognize in yourself.

Sydney earned her Master's Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University and works with adolescents (16+) and adults.

Her professional background includes bereavement counseling, where she has had the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families as they process loss, adjust to change, and find meaning during difficult seasons of life.

My Approach to Therapy.

Sydney believes therapy is most effective when it feels like a true partnership. Every client brings a unique story, and she tailors treatment to meet each individual's goals, strengths, and experiences.

Her work is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Sydney helps clients identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck while learning practical strategies for managing emotions, challenging unhelpful thoughts, improving relationships, and responding to life's challenges with greater confidence. At the same time, she creates space for reflection, healing, and self-compassion, recognizing that meaningful change often happens when practical skills are paired with deeper understanding.

Clients often describe Sydney as warm, compassionate, approachable, and genuine. She understands that beginning therapy can feel intimidating, and she works intentionally to create a space where clients feel comfortable from the very first session.

Her style is collaborative, encouraging, and down-to-earth. Rather than telling clients what they "should" do, Sydney works alongside them to explore challenges, identify strengths, and develop realistic strategies that fit their lives. She believes that everyone deserves a place where they can be honest, ask difficult questions, and experience growth at their own pace.

You might be a good fit if…

You find yourself thinking:

  • "I can't seem to move forward after losing someone important."

  • "I'm constantly worrying, even when I know I shouldn't be."

  • "Everything feels overwhelming, and I don't know where to start."

  • "I'm graduating, changing careers, or entering a new stage of life and feel completely uncertain."

  • "I want healthier ways to manage my emotions instead of feeling controlled by them."

  • "I know I want things to change—I just need help figuring out how."

Clinical Interests

Sydney has a special interest in helping clients who are navigating seasons of significant change. Her experience as a bereavement counselor has given her a deep appreciation for the many ways loss can affect our lives—not only through the death of a loved one, but also through changes in relationships, identity, health, career, or life circumstances.

She also brings valuable insight from her previous role as a college and career advisor, helping high school students successfully transition into adulthood. This background allows her to connect with adolescents and young adults who may be facing uncertainty about college, career paths, independence, or the next chapter of life.

Sydney enjoys helping clients who are ready to better understand themselves, strengthen their coping skills, and move through difficult seasons with resilience.
